Research at the Department for Business Informatics - Data & Knowledge Engineering

Research Areas

Our current research areas include business intelligence, semantic technologies, data and business process modeling, web of things as well as privacy in the Cloud. Research at our department is primarily applied and oriented on concrete problems in economy, public administration and society in general.

Our research resulted in numerous publications in internationally renowned journals, talks at conferences and also patents. For a complete list of our research outcomes, please refer to the JKU research documentation.

Our cooperations with economic partners led to the funding of cooperative research projects by national and international funding agencies, the development of innovative IT solutions, prototypes and patents. Together with Frequentis AG, we are currently investigating the utilization of semantic technologies for fine-grained and intelligent querying and filtering of digital NOTAM (NOtices To Air Men) in our joint research project SemNotam.

Our cooperations with researchers of universities like University of Oxford, University of South Australia, University Konstanz and Portland State University, led to jointly developed prototypes of innovative tools and also to numerous international publications.

We encourage you to contact us with any ideas for joint research projects.
